CSDS Vaccine Only Event Policies

(updated April 1, 2022)

What is the CSDS vaccination policy?

At this time, all in-person CSDS events will be vaccine only. This means you must be fully vaccinated in order to attend. Boosters are highly encouraged.

Am I required to pre-register?

Yes. We are requiring all participants pre-register for CSDS events in order ensure that all attendees vaccination status has been confirmed prior to arriving at the event. We are pleased to announce that registration is now done online through the CSDS website: https://cvilleswingdance.com/ (see the New Online Registration System FAQ document for details).

When am I considered fully vaccinated?

You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine, such as the Pfizer or the Moderna vaccines. You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after a single dose vaccine, such as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

What if I have immunity from a previous COVID-19 infection?

Based on CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidelines, natural immunity is insufficient to meet our immunity requirement at this time. CSDS currently requires proof of vaccination for all participants, regardless of previous infection. We will continue to evaluate this policy and hope to be able to adjust this requirement in the future.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you are ill, have symptoms associated with COVID-19 or have had a known exposure to COVID-19 in the last 10 days, please contact CSDS via email and we will issue a full refund for your registration. Do not attend the event.

What is the mask policy?

Due to updated CDC guidelines and the decreasing transmission rate for our area, CSDS events will be mask optional effective 4/1/22. We understand not all dances will feel comfortable without a mask. We encourage all participants to continue to wear masks according to their comfort level.

What if someone falsifies their vaccination record?

Anyone who is found to have provided falsified records or otherwise intentionally misled CSDS about their vaccination status will receive a lifetime ban from all CSDS events.

Hand hygiene is encouraged.

We encourage all participants to practice good hand hygiene, which includes frequent sanitization and hand washing. Hand sanitizer will be available at check-in. Hand soap will be available in the restrooms.

How do I check-in at the event?

All participants must complete a one-time COVID-19 liability waiver for all CSDS vaccine only events. When you arrive at the event, you will first sign the liability waiver. If you have already signed the waiver, you do not need to do it again.

CSDS staff will take your waiver and verify that you are registered for the event. Anyone who presents with symptoms associated with COVID-19, exposure or positive test within the last 10 days or who chooses not to comply with CSDS vaccine only event policies will be unable to attend the event and will be issued a full refund.

What are my options if I am not fully vaccinated?

We appreciate that some community members may have medical conditions that will not allow vaccinations and that others may not be comfortable with vaccinations. We at CSDS never want to see the social dancing we all love so much result in any preventable injuries or illness, and we believe we have a responsibility to provide as safe an environment as possible. Right now this means requiring vaccination.

We are continuing to monitor rates of infection and look to scientists and experts to guide our policies. We hope that as things improve, we will eventually be able to lift the vaccination requirement.

We recognize that not every dance style or club in Virginia is responding to the pandemic in the same way. Dances that do not require vaccination are available for individuals who are either unvaccinated or who feel comfortable attending events without vaccine requirements. There are many members of our dance community with chronic conditions or who are at high-risk of complications should they contract COVID-19, and we want those individuals to have dance opportunities as well.

There are also West Coast Swing instructors who are continuing to offer classes via online platforms such as Zoom. We encourage all of our CSDS participants to attend and support these online options.
